The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 177

"Yeah."

Stefan was now certain she was drunk. It was just that her drunken state was different from others—she was so quiet you couldn't even tell.

Suddenly, Winona started telling terrible jokes. "Why don't scientists trust atoms?" she asked, a silly grin on her face.

Stefan played along. "I don't know."

"Because they make up everything!" she declared with a giggle.

Stefan remained silent. Winona continued, "What do you call a fake noodle? An Impasta!"

Seeing her like this, Stefan gently rubbed his temples.

When they arrived at her apartment, Stefan was about to ask for the door code when Winona suddenly reached out and keyed in the numbers with perfect accuracy. If he hadn't just listened to her spout cheesy jokes the whole way, he would have thought she was completely sober.

Once inside, Winona walked to the sofa, sat down, and habitually reached into her shirt, unhooked her bra, and tossed it onto the cushion beside her.

Stefan froze.

Unaware of the effect her action had on the man in front of her, Winona sat perfectly straight like a well-behaved student, a standard smile on her face.

Seeing her return, Biscuit trotted over and settled into her lap. Winona held him, stroking his head absently.

Stefan had no idea what to do with her. If she had passed out, he could have carried her to bed. But she was just sitting there, looking so… lucid. Even if he told her to go rest, she might not listen.

But since she was home safe, there was no reason for him to stay. He prepared to leave.
