“I’m fine,” Winona said, gently comforting her. “Yulen and I just had a normal married couple’s argument. You weren’t too scared, were you?”
Yulen added in a mild tone, “Greta, I’ve already apologized to Winona. I promise I’ll be good to her from now on. Nothing like today will ever happen again.”
Greta glared at him but didn’t answer. She didn't believe a word he said.
Just then, Tallulah called, and Yulen stepped out to take it. A moment later, he returned. “I have to go back to the office. You get some rest.”
Winona had heard that line countless times. “Fine, you can go,” she said coolly.
Yulen had intended to properly apologize, but her coldness dampened his spirits. He turned and left.
Once he was gone, Greta looked at Winona carefully. “It must hurt a lot, doesn’t it?”
Winona shook her head. “It’s nothing. Greta, just forget everything you saw tonight.”
The doorbell rang again. Thinking Yulen had returned, Winona went to open it, only to find Stefan. He handed her the takeout bag in his hand and said, “Make sure you eat,” before turning to leave.
Winona wanted to thank him, but seeing that he didn't seem to want to talk, she didn't try to stop him.
While they were eating, Greta suddenly said, “Winona, I think the man from across the hall likes you.”
Winona froze. “Why would you think that?”
