The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 187

After the morning meeting, Nolan asked Winona to stay behind and handed her an invitation. “There’s a medical industry conference tomorrow afternoon. I’d like you to come with me.”

Spots for this conference were highly coveted; only a handful of local Riverton companies received invitations. Nolan believed Winona was the fastest learner on the team and that the event might inspire her. Any insights she gained could be applied to their project, which was why he chose her over one of Goddard Group’s own employees.

Winona nodded. “Alright.”

The next afternoon, Nolan and Winona entered the conference hall together. Julian Hartley arrived shortly after. Spotting Nolan, he teased, “Nolan, you’re playing favorites. You bring Winona but not me.”

Unfazed, Nolan chuckled. “Mr. Hartley, you’re a well-connected man. I knew you’d find your own way in, so I didn’t want to waste a valuable spot on you.”

The three of them found their seats and began looking through the brochures on the table. Suddenly, people around them started getting up and heading toward the entrance. Winona glanced over and saw them crowding around a refined, middle-aged man who carried an air of elegance. Clearly, he was someone important.

Julian recognized him and explained to Winona, “That’s Sylvan Scully from the Scully Group in the Capital. He’s a brilliant investor, and many of the pharmaceutical companies he’s backed have done exceptionally well. He’s quite a character. In his youth, he defied his family and practiced as a physician for ten years before returning to take over the Scully Group, which he then took to new heights. I heard he even studied drug development and published some professional articles.”
