The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 189

After returning home, Winona received a call from Camille. “Winona, I need you to join us for a client meeting on Saturday. If we land this deal, I’ll pay you five hundred thousand.”

Winona found it amusing. “Why not ask Tallulah?”

Though Camille disliked Winona, she despised Tallulah even more. She had a low tolerance for incompetence. But Tallulah had her uses. “She’ll be there,” Camille grunted. “You just need to work in the background and let Tallulah take the credit.”

“If you’re hiring me as a ghostwriter, fifty thousand isn’t enough,” Winona said coolly.

Camille was surprisingly direct. “How much do you want?”

“Eight hundred thousand.”

“Fine. I’ll send you the address.”

On Saturday evening, Winona arrived at the designated restaurant. Camille was waiting for her at the entrance. “If Tallulah says something stupid, I need you to jump in and fix it. But don’t steal the show.”

“Who’s the client this time?” Winona asked. “They must be an expert.” Tallulah’s rudimentary knowledge was usually enough to fool laypeople.

Sylvan completely ignored Winona and continued his business discussion with Tallulah. He had previously reviewed Locke Group’s R&D achievements over the past five years and was impressed by their capabilities. Now, meeting their R&D director, Tallulah, he was even more surprised by how young and seemingly capable she was. He had a great deal of respect for talented young people, so his attitude toward her was warm and encouraging.

Yulen, seeing how much Sylvan admired Tallulah, was confident the deal was in the bag. He had always known that when it came to research and development, Tallulah could hold her own against anyone. She would surely win Sylvan over.

Throughout the entire conversation, Sylvan never once acknowledged Winona. She didn’t mind, quietly committing Sylvan’s requirements for the partnership to memory. After the dinner, wanting to avoid any drama with Yulen and Tallulah, Winona sent a quick text to Camille and slipped away.

Once she was home, Camille called. She said she would send over some materials and that Winona should start drafting the proposal. Motivated by the money, Winona pulled a series of all-nighters and finally sent the completed file to Camille. Camille was extremely satisfied with the proposal. When she compared it to the one Tallulah had submitted, she found Tallulah’s work to be an embarrassing mess.
