Camille looked absolutely furious, her voice tight with suppressed rage. "There's a major crisis with the Scully Group project. I'm flying back to Riverton tonight. Get ready—you're coming with me to their office first thing tomorrow morning."
Winona was genuinely puzzled. "If they just followed the execution plan I outlined, there shouldn't be any issues."
"It's all because of that absolute idiot, Tallulah!" Camille spat. She was about to board her flight and didn't have time to explain exactly what incredibly stupid thing Tallulah had done. She abruptly hung up the phone.
The next morning, Winona and Camille arrived at the Scully Group branch office.
The R&D team was running around like headless chickens, entirely overwhelmed by the technical crisis.
When he heard that representatives from Locke Group had arrived, the R&D Director, Mr. Charlton, looked visibly murderous.
Tallulah's arrogant, clueless meddling was the exact reason they were in this mess, severely delaying the entire project timeline. And now Locke Group had the audacity to send more people to interfere?
Seeing Camille and Winona, Mr. Charlton gave a cold scoff, not even bothering to offer a standard professional greeting.
Camille spoke with smooth diplomacy. "Mr. Charlton, this is Winona, our R&D consultant. I'd love for you to walk us through the specific issues so Winona can help troubleshoot."
Mr. Charlton cast a dismissive glance at Winona. Seeing that she was just a young woman, his eyes filled with outright contempt.
Is Locke Group out of their minds? Do they think just anyone can walk in and do high-level R&D work?
He turned to Camille. "Ms. Locke, surely you're joking. Hasn't your team caused enough chaos here?"
But Camille was a seasoned corporate executive. After a few masterfully reassuring sentences, she managed to smooth ruffled feathers, and Mr. Charlton begrudgingly agreed to sit down for a strategy meeting.
Inside the conference room, Winona listened intently as the Scully Group researchers laid out the problems. Very quickly, she had a solid grasp of the situation—and exactly how to fix it.
Camille, who had no background in technical research, leaned over to Winona and whispered, "Can you handle this?"
Winona nodded.
A massive weight lifted off Camille's shoulders. She gestured for Winona to take the floor with Mr. Charlton.
Winona stood up, walked to the front of the room, and began breaking down her proposed solution.
At first, Mr. Charlton and the other engineers completely tuned her out.
After all, Tallulah had shown up making grand, spectacular promises too, and she turned out to be entirely incompetent.
