He had already paid off the hotel manager handsomely. Whatever he did to her in this room, no one would hear a thing.
Lachlan ordered his bodyguard to stand watch outside the door. He turned back to the bed, his gaze raking over Winona's delicate face and the soft curves of her body, his eyes darkening with unmasked, filthy desire.
He reached out to rip the fabric of her dress, but his cell phone abruptly started ringing.
It was Ophelia.
Annoyed by the interruption, he answered it.
Ophelia, terrified that his monumental stupidity would somehow ruin the plan at the final hour, delivered a sharp warning. "Whatever games that bitch tries to play, ignore her. Just finish the job and make sure there's no going back. Do not let her manipulate you."
She had seen how intimately Stefan and Winona had been acting recently; she couldn't afford to play the long game anymore.
Once Lachlan ruined Winona, any romantic spark between her and Stefan would be completely annihilated.
"I know what I'm doing. You don't need to babysit me."
Impatient, Lachlan hung up the phone.
He had everything planned out. Once he was done with her, he was getting on a flight out of the country to lay low for a few months.
He already had the ticket.
Even if Stefan wanted to avenge Winona, he wouldn't be able to find him.
Besides, as Ophelia had pointed out, give it enough time, and Stefan would lose interest in damaged goods anyway. The whole thing would eventually blow over.
Winona watched him reach for the collar of her dress.
Her fists clenched tightly at her sides, but she forced herself to remain completely limp.
Seeing her lying there like a dead fish, Lachlan paused, looking down at her with curious amusement.
Did she finally realize that fighting back was completely pointless, so she was just accepting her fate?
He peeled off her outer jacket and moved to unbutton her pants.
Winona remained completely unresponsive, staring blankly at the ceiling, acting as though she didn't care what he did to her.
Lachlan clicked his tongue in boredom. He had actually been looking forward to a fiery, violent struggle. It was much more entertaining when they fought back.
Knowing he had guards stationed outside, and confident that a frail thing like her couldn't possibly overpower him, he completely ignored Ophelia's warning.
He reached up, snipped the zip-ties binding her wrists, and yanked the gag out of her mouth.
Winona sucked in a sharp, desperately needed breath, forcing her racing heart to stay perfectly calm.
Lachlan chuckled, gripping her chin roughly as he leaned in to force a kiss on her lips.
Winona violently jerked her face away.
Enraged by the rejection, he hauled his hand back and slapped her hard across the face.
She bit her tongue, refusing to let out a sound.
