Right then, she received a text from Stefan.
"Let me know when you're awake. I'll bring you breakfast."
Winona replied, "I'm up."
Two minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Winona went to answer it.
Stefan stood at the door, wearing a white casual outfit, his expression serene.
Winona let him in.
He set the breakfast on the table and asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"
Winona nodded. "It was okay."
She didn't have much of an appetite, and since her gums were still throbbing, she only had a few spoonfuls of oatmeal before stopping.
Then, she asked Stefan, "Has Mr. Yarwood contacted you? If I want to sue Lachlan, what are my chances of winning?"
Thinking of what Hayes had said last night, Stefan replied in an even tone, "He is confident he can win it all."
Winona smiled. "That's great. Once we win the case, I'll have to treat Mr. Yarwood to dinner."
As she spoke, she accidentally pulled at her injury, and her gums flared with pain again.
Seeing her frown, Stefan let out a sigh. He suddenly reached out and gently stroked her hair.
"Winona, if there's a next time, don't be so foolish."
"What?" She looked up at him in confusion. She didn't know if it was just her imagination, but she thought she saw a flicker of heartache in his eyes.
"Thank God it was only the third floor. What if it had been higher? Would you still have jumped?"
She had no idea that when he read the police report last night and saw that she had jumped from the third floor, it felt as though something had pierced straight through his heart.
The terrifying thought of losing her lingered in his mind, keeping him awake all night.
"I..." She knew he was just worried about her and replied somewhat sheepishly, "I know. If the floor was too high, I definitely wouldn't have jumped. I was just terrified of letting him get what he wanted."
"You don't need to tell me. I already bought your ticket; you'll be leaving shortly." Ophelia knew that her own future depended on Lachlan inheriting the Powell family estate. Despite her anger, she had still arranged everything.
"Thanks." Lachlan breathed a sigh of relief before suddenly gritting his teeth. "I can't believe Winona dared to hurt me this badly. Next time I'm back, I'll definitely make her pay."
Ophelia glared at him. "You're still obsessing over that bitch at a time like this?"
After scolding him, she had her bodyguards help Lachlan into a wheelchair to take him to the airport.
But before they even reached the airport, they were intercepted by a group of bodyguards dressed in black.
Ophelia and Lachlan both turned pale.
They didn't even have a chance to put up a fight before Lachlan was dragged away.
Ophelia gritted her teeth, knowing this had to be Stefan's doing. She immediately called him.
"Stefan, did you have your people take Lachlan away?"
