Furthermore, Ophelia firmly believed that Stefan was nothing like Sylvan.
Stefan wasn't a playboy; he was a man of responsibility and principle. As long as they got married, she was certain they would naturally fall in love over time.
Seeing Ophelia looking sullen and clearly dismissing her advice, Mrs. Powell didn't push the issue.
Mrs. Powell stayed in the hospital room for a few hours to keep her company before finally leaving.
She had barely walked out the door when Sylvan Scully arrived.
"Mr. Scully," Ophelia called out sweetly.
Sylvan looked at her with concern. "How are you holding up?"
Ophelia nodded. "I'm pretty much fine now."
"Has Stefan not come to see you?" Sylvan asked.
He had heard she was injured protecting Stefan's mother. By all accounts, Stefan should be here taking care of her.
Ophelia put on a brave, understanding face. "Stefan stopped by once or twice earlier. He's been incredibly busy with work in Riverton lately, so he hasn't been able to make it. I completely understand."
"Hmph, busy with work, or busy fooling around with that Winona?" Sylvan snapped angrily. "When I go to Riverton, I'm definitely going to give him a piece of my mind."
Ophelia shook her head quickly. "Mr. Scully, please don't do that. When it comes down to it, Stefan and I aren't officially anything yet. If you do that, it'll only make him resent me."
Sylvan huffed. "You care so much about him, but he clearly doesn't care about you. Fine, I'll let Stefan off the hook for now, but I won't let Winona have an easy time. She knows perfectly well that you two are childhood sweethearts and about to get engaged, yet she still forces her way between you. It's completely shameless."
Seeing Sylvan so willing to stand up for her, Ophelia felt deeply moved.
She thought Sylvan was much better than her adoptive parents. At least Sylvan would find ways to grant her requests and help her get what she wanted. Her adoptive parents never did that.
If only she were Sylvan's biological daughter.

Winona heard that Scully Group was experiencing technical R&D issues again, so she made a trip over.
