Hearing the muffled yelling coming from the office, Tallulah knew Camille was in a foul mood and that her timing couldn't be worse.
But out of all the influential women in the Locke family, Camille was by far the most capable. With Yulen unreachable, she had no choice but to seek Camille's help.
It didn't help that Winona had thoroughly outshined her recently, leaving Camille with a terrible impression of her.
Tallulah could feel Camille's attitude toward her growing colder by the day, but with the Shipley family desperate for a lifeline, she had to swallow her pride.
Caressing her slightly rounded stomach, Tallulah gritted her teeth. *As long as I deliver this baby safely, everything will be fine.* Her baby was her ultimate trump card. Once the child was born, everyone in the Locke family would be forced to respect her.
She stood waiting for an entire hour before Camille finally granted her an audience.
Tallulah waddled into the office, supporting her back.
Camille didn't offer her a seat, forcing her to stand as she spoke.
Biting back her humiliation, Tallulah pleaded with Camille to find a way to get her mother and brother released.
Camille didn't even look up. Her eyes rapidly scanned the document in front of her, a pen making sharp notes in the margins, as she casually replied, "Tallulah, you can't be this greedy. The Locke family has already handed the Shipleys an endless amount of resources. You can't honestly expect us to spend our days cleaning up your family's messes too, can you?"
Tallulah begged, "Camille, I promise I'll never bother you with my family's drama again. Please, just help me this one last time?"
Camille let out a dry, mocking laugh. "Tallulah, think about this critically. If Yulen finds out about the disgusting stunt your mother and brother pulled, how do you think he's going to look at you? How is he going to look at the Shipley family?"
Tallulah suddenly froze.
Yulen had already been somewhat cold toward her lately. During this business trip, he was barely replying to texts and only returned her calls every two or three days.
This time, her mother hadn't just almost assaulted Simone Sterling—she had also tried to frame Winona.
If Yulen found out, he would likely be utterly repulsed by her and the Shipley family.
She would practically be handing him right back to Winona.
No. To protect her own marriage, she absolutely could not let Yulen find out about this.
Seeing Tallulah hesitate, Camille smirked.
