The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 319

Completely unfazed, Simone beamed. "Elders love the innocent, girl-next-door vibe! It's scientifically proven to make them like you."

Forrest Kane was waiting for them near the entrance of Riverton University.

He was leaning against a heavily used, older-model sedan. Seeing Simone arrive in her own luxury vehicle, he offered, "I can lead the way, and you two can follow me?"

Simone instantly shook her head. "No way, we'll ride with you! I'll just tell my driver to trail behind us."

She wasn't about to pass up a perfectly good opportunity to be trapped in a small space with him.

Forrest nodded easily. "Alright."

He opened the back door for them.

Simone was dying to call shotgun, but her nerves got the better of her. She ended up sliding into the backseat next to Winona.

The car was cheap, lacking the plush leather and perfect suspension she was used to, but Simone didn't care. In fact, she loved that he was practical. He wasn't the type to take out a massive loan just to buy a flashy car for his ego.

A lot of the guys who chased her—aside from actual trust-fund kids—were desperate to project a successful CEO image, renting sports cars and penthouses just to keep up appearances.

Simone found that entire demographic utterly exhausting.

She quickly typed out her thoughts and showed her phone screen to Winona.

Reading the message, Winona couldn't help but smile. She typed back, You're wearing rose-colored glasses. Right now, everything he does is completely perfect to you.

Simone immediately fired back. Are you telling me he isn't amazing in every single way?

Winona replied, He's a great guy, but I can practically see the halo you've drawn over his head.

When a woman was infatuated, it was entirely natural to romanticize every little flaw, building the guy up into some flawless ideal.

It was only after real, raw proximity that the illusion faded.

If she had taken the time to truly look at Yulen before diving in, maybe she wouldn't have been manipulated so easily.

Forrest's apartment was in a rundown, decades-old walk-up complex a few miles off campus. He rented a tiny two-bedroom unit.
