Wanting to completely focus on resolving them, Winona realized she wouldn't have time to attend her upcoming sessions at the research institute. She sent a quick text to Sheldon Cohen to let him know.

It took a while for Sheldon to reply: "Dean Ziegler said he'd love to take you out to dinner again. He's bringing Mr. Harper along too. When are you free?"

Winona checked her calendar. "I'm free Friday evening."

"Great. Friday it is."

When Friday evening rolled around, Winona walked into the private dining room. To her surprise, alongside Dean Ziegler, Mr. Harper, and Sheldon, Mrs. Mallory was sitting at the table.

Mrs. Mallory took a slow, elegant sip of her tea, a perfectly manicured smile playing on her lips. "So you're Mr. Harper's star pupil. How impressive."

Winona had already heard the news. Maeve had spent exactly two days behind bars before being quietly released.

Because of the arrest, the tension between the Mallorys and the Goddards was at a breaking point. Mrs. Mallory couldn't exactly march up to Stefan and demand retribution, so she had clearly set her sights on Winona instead.

Steadying her breathing, Winona offered a polite, professional greeting and took her seat.

Dean Ziegler beamed. "Mr. Harper tells me your project with the Goddard Group is entering the final testing phase. That new medication should hit the market before the end of the year. To lead a project of that magnitude at your age is astonishing. Knowing you'll be involved in our upcoming collaboration with the city government gives us a lot of confidence."

Mrs. Mallory casually cut in. "Speaking of that project, our family has heavily invested in it. I'd actually like to recommend Maeve for a management role. She holds a master's degree in finance from abroad and has managed plenty of high-level portfolios. I'm sure she'd be an invaluable asset to the team."

Jericho Harper frowned instantly. "If her background is strictly finance, she doesn't have the technical expertise for—"

Dean Ziegler swiftly placed a hand over the older man's arm, cutting him off.
