Yulen thought about it for a moment before saying, "It's fine if it's a girl, but you'll just have to work a little harder. The Locke family still needs a male heir eventually, so we'll have to keep trying. But honestly, raising a daughter is much easier."
He recalled how his three older sisters had been raised and spoke with an air of absolute certainty. "You can't just raise a girl casually, though. Besides making sure she excels academically, we'd have to teach her proper etiquette, styling, and classical arts like piano or painting. She can't be an empty-headed socialite, but she also can't be too domineering, or it'll be hard to find her a good husband later on.
"Ideally, she should learn a bit of business management. Just like my sister Camille, she needs to be able to help out with the family company and become her future husband's right-hand woman. If she marries into an even wealthier family, she can support her younger brother in the future."
That was exactly how Tallulah had been raised. She nodded in agreement. "You're right. We certainly aren't short on money, so of course, we'll groom our daughter perfectly."
They stayed up late discussing their future child.
It had been a long time since Tallulah had such a deep, intimate conversation with him. Resting her head against his arm, she felt completely satisfied.
If only Winona Jowett would just disappear, she thought. Then he could stay by her side forever.

The Goddard Group and several universities in Riverton were co-hosting a pharmaceutical engineering design competition.
Nolan Archer sought out Winona, forwarded her the event details, and said, "I know you're swamped, but I'm really hoping you can make time to be a guest judge for this competition. I've already spoken to Mr. Harper, and he's agreed."
Winona looked hesitant. "The new drug testing phase is incredibly tedious right now. I'm afraid I just can't take this on."
Nolan smiled. "You don't need to worry about that. I spoke with Mr. Goddard. He said the stability of the new drug is paramount, so he's approved an extension for the testing period. You can take on the judge role without stressing over the lab schedule."
Since Nolan put it that way, Winona had no choice but to agree.
The promotional work for the event was extensive. Not only did Winona have to pose for promotional photos and shoot a video, but she also had to visit Riverton University for a pre-competition seminar.
She originally wanted to decline the seminar, but Mr. Gage, the marketing director, insisted. He believed her stunning appearance was exactly what the campaign needed and practically begged her to go.
