Tallulah followed Yulen back to her apartment.
The second the door clicked shut, his voice went dangerously cold. "Stay away from Quentin Vance. Are you blind? The man is clearly still obsessed with you."
A sickeningly sweet smile spread across Tallulah’s face. She wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Are you jealous, Yulen?"
He stiffened, glaring down at her. "Don't change the subject."
Inhaling his expensive cologne, Tallulah let out a soft sigh. It had been so long since he held her.
"When you spend all your time with Winona, I feel the exact same way," she murmured. "I get so angry, but I swallow it down because I love you. I'll cut Quentin off completely for you. Will you leave Winona for me?"
Yulen’s brows snapped together. "That’s completely different."
Tallulah froze.
Yulen let out a dismissive scoff. "Did you forget our arrangement? You literally told me you were fine with me having feelings for both of you. And let's get one thing straight: I can do things you can't. You're a woman. A woman's absolute loyalty belongs to her husband. Otherwise, she's nothing but a tramp."
In Yulen’s twisted, elite circles, successful men always had side pieces. It was a status symbol.
But a woman? A woman who strayed was damaged goods.
Even though Tallulah was obsessed with him, his blatant misogyny sparked a flash of genuine rage in her chest.
Why was it different? She was a human being with emotional needs too.
She was sacrificing her body, her health, and her youth to give him an heir. Was it really so hard for him to just be faithful to her?
But she knew exactly where she stood in the power dynamic of this relationship.
Swallowing the bitter taste in her mouth, she didn't dare argue back.
Yulen's eyes swept over her full face of makeup and her stylish outfit. "Pregnant women shouldn't wear makeup. And stop dressing so provocatively. You're going to be a mother. Start acting like one and put the baby first."
Tallulah already felt incredibly insecure about her pregnancy weight.
She had spent hours getting ready just to feel pretty again, and his callous words felt like a slap in the face.
