The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 591

Jasper Shepherd was somewhat swayed by her words.

Winona decided to strike while the iron was hot, breaking down the current trends in the healthcare sector for him.

The people Jasper usually hired were terrible at their actual jobs, excelling only at office politics and infighting. Hearing Winona's professional, data-backed analysis, he found himself slowly being convinced.

If things went the way she described, building up the company under his own management would yield far higher returns than cleaning up the absolute mess that was Cirrus Beverages.

He fell into deep thought. Perhaps it was time to clean house and hire smarter people to work for him...

When Stefan Goddard arrived, his expression was thunderous.

Seeing Winona and Jasper sitting together, deep in a discussion about the medical industry, he was momentarily taken aback.

Stefan knew Jasper’s personality inside out.

The man was as foolishly malleable as his mother, prone to flattery from his subordinates, and incapable of doing a day of hard work.

Stefan had tried discussing business with Jasper before, but his uncle had never trusted him, paranoid that Stefan would always favor the Goddard family’s interests. Over time, Stefan had simply given him the cold shoulder.

He never expected the man to sit down and actually listen to Winona’s advice.

When Jasper spotted Stefan, the threatening speech he had prepared died in his throat. Having just listened to Winona earnestly map out a business strategy for him—looking for all the world like she genuinely wanted him to succeed—he suddenly felt a wave of awkwardness and guilt.

Moreover, despite his youth, Stefan possessed a terrifyingly commanding presence. Even as his uncle, Jasper frequently felt dwarfed in his shadow.

"What exactly did you want to tell me, Uncle Jasper, that required you to invite Winona here?" Stefan asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Jasper offered a guilty, nervous laugh. "Nothing, really. Don't misunderstand, Stefan. I mainly just wanted to meet my future niece."

Stefan let out a cold scoff. "Is that so? You didn't intend to use Winona's safety to extort the General Manager position at Cirrus Beverages from me?"

Under Stefan’s piercing gaze, a cold sweat broke out across Jasper’s back.

"I wouldn't dare entertain such a thought," he chuckled dryly. "You've really got the wrong idea, Stefan. By the way, since you're here, why don't we grab a bite to eat?"

Stefan’s eyes were ice. "You still have a chance to fight for the GM spot at Cirrus. Are you truly planning to give it up?"

Right now, Jasper felt his medical equipment company was vastly superior to the hot potato that was Cirrus.

"I really don't want that position anymore, Stefan. You have to believe me."

Meanwhile, Jasper was on his way to the airport, preparing to head back to the Capital.

Suddenly, the car broke down, swerving and crashing straight into a tree.

Jasper slammed his forehead hard, blood immediately welling from the wound.

He instantly guessed that Stefan was behind the sabotage. But knowing he was in the wrong to begin with, he didn't dare seek Stefan out for revenge. He could only swallow his bad luck and order his bodyguards to take him to the hospital.

Back at Stefan’s place, he asked Winona, "What exactly did you say to my uncle?"

His uncle was a fool who fancied himself a genius. He surrounded himself with sycophants who fed him terrible ideas, which he inevitably swallowed hook, line, and sinker.

Winona recounted her entire conversation with Jasper.

Hearing her strategy, Stefan’s lips curved into a smile. He reached out, gently smoothing her hair. "Winona, you have quite a gift for business."

She smiled, a little shyly. "Compared to you, I'm just an amateur showing off. But I have to admit, I was surprised I actually managed to convince him."

Stefan then took the time to explain the Shepherd family dynamic to her. "Jasper is my older uncle. He's ambitious but easily swayed. If the people around him stroke his ego, he believes every word they say. Because of that, he's incredibly easy for my younger uncle to use as a pawn.
