The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 592

"As for my younger uncle, Jeremiah Shepherd, he's a lot like my uncle Kade. On the surface, they’re always smiling, but underneath, they are deeply calculating. This whole mess with the Cirrus Beverages election is entirely their doing, stirring the pot and using everyone else as their pieces."

Curious, Winona asked, "Roxana mentioned that Kade was adopted. Is that true?"

Stefan nodded. "Uncle Kade's father was my grandfather's closest friend. When his father died young, Kade was only three, so my grandfather took him in. Before my grandfather passed, he wrote his will, dividing the family assets equally into three portions. However, because the management rights and the majority of Goddard Group's shares were left in my hands, Uncle Kade has always resented it."

Thinking about how Stefan had been forced to fight his own uncles for control of the family empire right out of college, Winona felt a deep ache in her chest for him. The path he had walked must have been unimaginably brutal.

That evening, Wynne heard about the accident and went to the hospital to visit Jasper.

In his youth, Jasper had harbored a massive crush on Wynne. But to him, she had been an untouchable goddess. He hadn't been as brilliant or exceptional as Sylvan Scully or Ryder Powell, so he never even qualified as a backup option.

He never expected that, after his injury, she would not only visit him personally but also bring him nourishing soup. He was deeply moved.

"Mrs. Powell, thank you so much."

Wynne offered a soft smile. "We've been friends for years. It's only right that I come see you. Don't mention it."

As Jasper drank the soup, watching Wynne’s gentle and elegant demeanor, he sighed inwardly. If only his own wife had half of her grace.

That night, after finishing the entire bowl of Wynne's special soup, Jasper suffered from severe diarrhea until dawn.

When Giselle Reed heard that Winona had escaped unscathed, she was surprised—and bitterly disappointed.

She had assumed that if Jasper kidnapped Winona, he would at least torture her a little.

Who knew the man was such a bleeding heart?

That evening, Sylvan Scully took Giselle to a business dinner.

Throughout the meal, he introduced her to several corporate executives.

The executives continuously praised her beauty and competence.

Giselle reveled in the spotlight, soaking up their admiration.

Willow, Yulen Locke, and Camille Locke were also at the dinner.

Even if they couldn't be husband and wife, being friends was a solid alternative.

Giselle listened to him talk about Winona all night. While she was inwardly rolling her eyes, she maintained a mask of perfect sympathy.

She loved being surrounded by wealthy men. Although Yulen was married, in terms of looks, talent, and capability, he was the cream of the crop among Riverton's elite. Naturally, she was more than happy to keep him on her hook.

They talked until midnight, and Giselle ended up driving a half-drunk Yulen home.

Standing by the window in their home, Tallulah stared down at Giselle with venomous eyes.

She wanted nothing more than to run downstairs, get in her car, and run the woman over.

When Valentine's Day arrived, Yulen took Giselle's advice and prepared a gift for Winona.

And because Giselle was his 'best female friend,' he bought her a gift, too.

As for Tallulah, she was just a housewife with nothing to do all day. Yulen didn't see the point in buying her anything, reasoning that it would only inflate her ego and cause her to throw another tantrum.

When he came home and saw her being quiet and well-behaved, he felt immensely satisfied. He hoped she would stay exactly like this forever.
