The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 594

He refused to believe that Stefan could face their long, intimate past without feeling a shred of jealousy.

Winona clenched her hands, a sudden surge of anger washing over her.

Yulen had always looked down on everything she bought for him. Flaunting this shirt now—was he actively trying to sabotage her relationship with Stefan?

How shameless.

She glanced at Stefan, wanting to explain, but the words caught in her throat.

How could she explain away a history that had genuinely existed?

Catching Winona’s tense reaction, a flicker of triumph sparked in Yulen’s eyes.

Exactly. As long as he kept wedging himself into the cracks of their relationship, they would inevitably fall apart.

Stefan merely shot Yulen a look of cool indifference, regarding him like a clown putting on a pathetic show.

Tightening his grip on Winona’s hand, Stefan said, "Mr. Locke, you're a married man. Don't you think comments like that are entirely inappropriate? Whatever you had with Winona is ancient history. That shirt means absolutely nothing now. I'm sure a CEO of your standing understands that."

Yulen hadn't expected Stefan to be so completely unfazed, let alone have his pathetic motives laid bare so casually. His face flushed an ugly shade of red.

Ignoring him, Stefan guided Winona into the elevator.

Once they were home, Winona watched Stefan seamlessly slip into his routine—changing his shoes, pouring a glass of water, scooping Biscuit’s litter box, and sweeping up the kibble the cat had scattered. She felt a knot of anxiety twisting in her stomach.

Was he truly not bothered at all?

Putting herself in his shoes, if she had to face a woman Stefan used to love, even if it was all in the past, she would have been consumed by a maddening jealousy.

Seeing Stefan take Biscuit’s food bowls to the kitchen to wash them, Winona walked up and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind.

"Stefan, you're the only one I love."

Stefan’s hands paused over the sink.

It wasn't that he felt nothing. He simply refused to let a meaningless ghost from her past drain their emotional energy and damage their bond.

He had kept himself busy to force his mind to settle.

"I know, Winona," he said softly, a hint of bitterness lacing his tone. "But... I still get jealous."

Born into extreme wealth and wielding immense power from a young age, Stefan was used to feeling omnipotent.

But love was different. Love made him feel utterly out of control.

It was only his ironclad self-discipline and upbringing that kept him from letting the dark, obsessive thoughts thrashing in his mind consume him.

Now, all she felt was torment and bitter resentment.

She wondered if this was how Winona had felt when she first discovered her existence.

Tallulah had thought she won when she stole Yulen away. She never realized that a man who could be stolen once could easily be stolen again.

She walked over to her vanity and stared into the mirror. As she pulled off her hair extensions, the sight of her rapidly thinning hair sent a fresh wave of panic crashing through her.

Her doctor had diagnosed her with severe anxiety and warned her that if she didn't manage her stress, the hair loss would only accelerate.

From the living room, the sound of her son wailing echoed through the door, followed immediately by Willow screaming at the nanny.

Tallulah felt completely detached from it all. The baby's cries barely registered. Right now, her entire world had shrunk down to her own misery.

She hurriedly snapped the extensions back into place and began frantically packing setting powder onto her face.

It was Valentine's Day. Yulen might still come home. She couldn't let him see her looking so haggard.

As she applied her lipstick, the bullet snapped, leaving an ugly, jagged red smear across her cheek.

She started to laugh. She laughed and laughed until tears finally spilled over her lashes, ruining her makeup all over again.
