Winona received the gift Yulen sent her—a silk scarf—and promptly mailed it back.
When she got off work, she didn't stay to do any overtime. Instead, she headed straight to the restaurant where she was meeting Stefan.
The place was packed with couples, but Stefan had booked a private dining room, completely shielding them from the noise outside.
He presented her with a stunning bouquet of red roses, and Winona accepted them with a bright, genuine smile.
Skipping the small talk, they immediately got down to business: ordering food.
Most of the patrons here were married couples; the younger, newer couples tended to flock to restaurants with mood lighting and romantic gimmicks.
Both Winona and Stefan were incredibly pragmatic, caring far more about the quality of the food than the ambiance.
Since they had gotten together, their culinary tastes aligned perfectly. They never once argued over what to eat.
The waiter began bringing out the restaurant's signature dishes.
Winona absolutely loved their Braised Pork Knuckles with Cider.
The chef prepared it flawlessly—the meat was tender and perfectly gelatinous without being greasy, and the ginger was sweet, tart, and delicious.
She had always had a soft spot for hearty, local comfort food.
However, back when she was with the Locke family, such dishes never made it to the dining table.
The Lockes considered things like pork knuckles 'unrefined' and beneath their social standing.
In the past, Winona had compromised on everything. Now, looking back, she realized how foolish she had been. She and the Lockes were fundamentally from different worlds. Forcing herself to fit in had only brought her pain.
After dinner, Winona finished off a bowl of Herbal Pork Bone Broth, leaning back with a contented sigh. She was completely stuffed.
Stefan chuckled softly. "The restaurant isn't far from my place. Let's walk back."
Winona readily agreed, clutching her roses as they stepped out into the night.
Walking along the riverbank, Stefan noticed other couples stopping to take pictures. He looked down at her. "Should we take a photo, too?"
Winona nodded. "Sure."
A bodyguard stepped forward to snap the picture for them.
Looking at the photo on his screen, Stefan casually uploaded it to his social media timeline.
The very first person to like and comment was Roxana Goddard: *OMG, my brother is actually posting PDA! 😭 My sister-in-law is gorgeous.*
The second like came from Violet: *Making progress, I see. Good to know you're treating Winona to some romance.*
Margaret, however, simply commented with a passive-aggressive smiling emoji, practically radiating toxicity through the screen.
Winona saw his post, smiled as she hit 'like,' and then uploaded the photo to her own feed as well.
Seeing the screenshot from Giselle made his blood boil.
He shot up from his seat and stormed out the door.
As fate would have it, he ran straight into Winona and Stefan at the elevator banks just as they were returning from their dinner.
Winona looked right past him, as if he didn't exist.
Stefan, however, wore a faint, lazy smirk. He swept a careless glance over Yulen, treating his presence as utterly inconsequential.
Yulen was deliberately wearing a shirt Winona had bought him years ago.
He had never worn it back then because it wasn't a luxury designer brand.
He had always claimed that wearing it to his business functions would damage his image.
He figured that wearing something he used to despise was a clear olive branch—a signal he was sure she would understand.
But she didn't even look at him.
Unable to hold back, Yulen blurted out, "Winona, look at what I'm wearing. It's the shirt you bought me."
He said it to remind her of their shared history, and more importantly, to provoke Stefan.
