"Oh, so he's your 'sugar daddy' now?" the wife mocked relentlessly. "Does he know you're out here turning tricks with half of Riverton's elite?"
"I am his actual daughter! Look it up!" Giselle shrieked, desperate for them to believe her.
"I don't need to look anything up," the woman scoffed. "No real heiress acts like a desperate little tramp, throwing herself at married men."
Giselle lunged for her dropped phone to call Sylvan, but the bodyguard kicked it away, snatching her by the arms. Before she could scream again, a rag was shoved into her mouth, her wrists were zip-tied, and she was violently thrown into the back of an idling van.
As the doors slammed shut, pure, toxic hatred burned in her eyes. The second she got out of this, she was going to ruin these women.
A block away, safely parked in a tinted SUV, Winona and Simone watched the van speed off.
"How did you know her personal life was such a wreck?" Simone asked, thoroughly impressed.
Winona kept her eyes on the road. "I saw her coming out of a hotel with my ex. Then I saw her drinking and shopping with a completely different guy. I had my security detail tail her for two days, and she handed us all the ammunition we needed. My guys got some incredibly compromising photos, and we made sure they found their way to the right wives."
"But when they beat her up, won't she just go crying to Sylvan?" Simone asked.
Winona smiled faintly. "She wouldn't dare. Her entire survival depends on playing the perfect, innocent daughter for him. If she calls the cops, those wives will leak her lingerie photos and text logs to the press. She'd be a social pariah, and Sylvan would drop her instantly. She has to swallow this whole."
"I'll have my team track them down," Sylvan demanded.
"No!" Giselle panicked. "Dad, please don't! They took... inappropriate photos of me. If you go after them, they'll leak them. I can't handle that kind of scandal!"
Sylvan paused. He cared far more about his own public image than her broken ribs. If investigating this would drag the Scully name through the mud, it wasn't worth it. She wasn't his biological daughter anyway; throwing some money at her hospital bills was enough.
"Fine," he said stiffly. "Does Wynne know about this? She'll surely come take care of you, right?"
Giselle's heart turned to ice. It was sickeningly obvious. He didn't care that she had been beaten half to death. He only cared that her hospital bed was a convenient excuse to get Wynne in the same room as him.
