The lawyer dropped her off at the hospital entrance and immediately drove away, leaving her stranded.
Back in the capital, Karina had an entire entourage handling her every inconvenience. Here in Riverton, having to navigate an emergency room entirely on her own was a humiliating shock to the system. Once she was patched up, she was absolutely demanding Margaret send two private nurses to wait on her.
After getting five stitches in her forehead, Karina stumbled out of the clinic. The harsh fluorescent lights sent a spike of vertigo through her skull. Her knees buckled, and she pitched forward.
Before she hit the linoleum, a strong, steady arm caught her by the waist, effortlessly hauling her upright.
She gasped and looked up. The man holding her had a face carved by angels—sharp jawline, striking eyes, and an aura of quiet, devastating calm. For a split second, she entirely forgot how to breathe.
"Thank... thank you," she stammered, her cheeks flushing hot.
Normally, Karina treated people doing her favors like the help. But looking at this stunning stranger, she desperately wanted to impress him.
Forrest Kane, his left arm heavily immobilized in a sling, made sure she was steady on her feet before respectfully withdrawing his right hand. "Take it easy," he murmured politely.
With a slight nod, he stepped past her and continued down the corridor toward his room.
Karina stared after him, her heart hammering frantically against her ribs. Who was that? She had to find out.

Once she was physically cleared, Giselle returned to the lab.
No one asked how she was feeling. No one threw her a welcome back lunch. In fact, her coworkers treated her like she was entirely invisible. The data analysis had moved on without her, leaving her utterly irrelevant to the project's success. When the team held closed-door strategy meetings, her name was never on the invite list.
She was a ghost.
But Giselle couldn't care less. She wasn't here to make friends with a bunch of corporate wage slaves. With Sylvan Scully backing her, she was destined for high society. She started showing up late, leaving early, and taking three-hour lunches. Dean Ziegler never said a word to correct her, which only fueled her delusions that she was untouchable.
Watching them, Nikita patted Winona's arm. "He is a truly exceptional man, Winona."
Helena nodded fiercely. "Greta is incredibly lucky to have him as a role model. When she grows up, I'm telling her this is the absolute baseline standard for how a man should treat her."
Nikita laughed. "If that's the baseline, she's going to be single forever."
"Then she stays single," Helena said without missing a beat. "I will never let her settle for less than she deserves."
Once the impromptu photoshoot ended, they headed into the grand lobby. The resort was a sprawling paradise featuring private hot springs, luxury spas, and world-class entertainment.
Stefan walked up to the VIP desk and collected the key cards for three suites. He'd booked one for himself and Winona, one for Nikita, and one for Helena and Greta.
When Helena accidentally caught a glimpse of the digital invoice on the concierge's screen, her jaw practically hit the marble floor. The rooms were twenty thousand dollars a night.
