The man crumpled to the floor, unconscious.
Winona immediately flipped on the lights, flooding the room with brightness. She glanced at the man on the ground, then turned her gaze to Tallulah, whose eyes were filled with resentment.
Without a word, Winona grabbed Tallulah's hair and delivered two sharp slaps across her face.
Tallulah tried to fight back, but Winona gave her no chance, slapping her again and again, more than a dozen times, until Tallulah's nose and mouth were bleeding. Only then did she let go, a cold smile on her lips. "Is that pathetic trick all you have?"
Tallulah, in so much pain she was about to pass out, slid to the floor and began to sob.
Back in her own room, Winona changed her clothes and was about to call the police when the doorbell rang. She opened the door to find Yulen, his face a mask of cold fury.
"Winona, you saw Tallulah being attacked, so why didn't you call for help? You just walked away? Do you realize what could have happened to her? If she hadn’t managed to fight him off herself, who knows what he might have done…"
Tallulah had called him, crying. When he rushed over and saw her state, his eyes had turned red with rage. After hearing her side of the story, he immediately came to confront Winona.
Winona couldn't believe Tallulah's audacity in twisting the truth. Her breath came in ragged gasps. "Yulen, there are security cameras in the hallway. If you want to know what happened, go watch the footage. Tallulah brought that man here. She sent me a message to lure me over so that man could hurt me! If you’re not going to use your brain, you may as well not have one!"
Yulen's expression wavered, unsure who to believe. But now wasn't the time for arguments; he had to go tend to Tallulah's injuries.
As Yulen left, a wave of exhaustion washed over Winona. Just then, Nikita returned. "What's wrong, Winona? You look so pale."
Winona mumbled an excuse and then stepped into the hallway to call the police.
After tending to Tallulah's wounds, Yulen received the security footage on his phone. As he watched it, his eyes turned frosty.
Tallulah swallowed nervously. "Yulen…"
Yulen looked up at her. "Why did you bring that man to your room?"
In the video, she and the man seemed familiar. If she had been forced, she could have called for help at any time. Moreover, when Winona approached the room, her expression was one of despair and fear. She had tried to resist but was dragged inside anyway. It was clear Winona was the real victim.
Tallulah was terrified by the way he was looking at her. Tears welled up in her eyes. "I didn't mean to," she sobbed, looking helpless. "That man threatened me, and I was forced to bring him here. I was scared he would hurt our baby, so I asked Winona to come help me. I didn't know he would be so bold as to try… to do that to her… It's all my fault. I'll go apologize to Winona…"
Her tears were disarmingly effective.
