The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 64

Yulen thought back to three years ago, when she had selflessly rushed into a fire to save him. His heart softened. He couldn't bring himself to stay angry with her.

Her feelings for him had to be real, he told himself. She had only done it out of jealousy.

He pulled her into his arms, his voice softening. "Don't ever do this again, understand? You know I love you most for your innocence and kindness."

"I really know I was wrong," Tallulah nodded. "Yulen, please forgive me this time."

Yulen kissed her forehead.

Seeing that he was no longer angry, Tallulah couldn't resist asking, "Will you stay with me tonight?"

Yulen thought for a moment. "I'll stay with you tonight, but you need to leave the resort in the morning. Also, from now on, I'm going to spend more time with Winona. You should stay at your own place for a while."

Lately, Winona's attitude toward him had been deeply unsettling. If he continued to neglect her, she would inevitably grow suspicious of his relationship with Tallulah. Though he was no longer as obsessed with Winona as he had once been, he still felt responsible for her. As far as he was concerned, walking away from each other had never been an option.

At his words, Tallulah's nails dug into her palms. She thought of Winona's recent coldness. Was she playing hard to get? To her surprise, it seemed Yulen was actually falling for it.

She couldn't just sit back and let this happen. For now, fearing she would upset Yulen further, she could only pretend to be obedient.

"Okay."

The next morning, Tallulah reluctantly left the resort.

After seeing her off, Yulen went to the restaurant to join Winona and the others for breakfast. As soon as he arrived, Nikita deliberately pulled Helena and Greta away, insisting that Winona stay behind to keep him company.

Winona was speechless. Her grandmother had likely noticed the tension between them and was trying to give them some space, but she had absolutely nothing to say to Yulen.

"Do you want some juice? I can get it for you," Yulen offered.

Yulen was waiting for her in the hallway, a flicker of anger in his eyes.

Seeing her act as if nothing had happened, he felt a tightness in his chest. "We need to talk."

Winona had nothing to talk about with him. She tried to walk past, but he spoke again.

"You don't want Nikita to know we're fighting, do you?"

He had noticed how cold she was when they were alone, yet how she maintained the facade of a loving couple in front of Nikita. He was a smart man; it didn't take him long to realize something was bothering her. He was determined to smooth things over so they could get back to their normal life.

Winona's hand clenched into a fist. For Nikita's sake, she followed him into the room.

Yulen got a bottle of water for her, opened it, and placed it on the table in front of her. But Winona didn't touch it.

Yulen’s irritation flared. "What's been wrong with you lately? If you're unhappy about something, just tell me directly."
