Wynne didn't care about Giselle in the slightest. As long as Winona wasn't the one being bullied, everything was fine.
She took Winona's hand and said, "Come, try the cucumber salad the chef just made. You might be craving something a bit tangy right now."
Upstairs, Giselle had changed her clothes but completely lost her appetite.
She came downstairs to find Winona and Wynne chatting happily in the kitchen. With a mocking sneer, she called out, "Mom, I have something to do, so I'm heading out. You two go ahead and eat without me."
With that, she walked out the door.
Without her there, Wynne and Winona felt much more relaxed.
They chatted comfortably over lunch. When Wynne heard that Winona would be collaborating with Forrest Kane on a new project, she was thrilled.
If the two of them could get to know each other better through work, it would make things much easier when they eventually learned about their true identities.
"I'm very interested in your project," Wynne told Winona. "I'll ask Ryder if he'd like to invest. And when you have your meetings, I'll drop by to bring you all some pastries and snacks."
Winona laughed. "Then I'll thank you in advance on behalf of my team."
She genuinely felt that Wynne was incredibly sweet to her. Sometimes she wondered if Wynne was projecting the love she had for her missing daughter onto her. Regardless, as long as Wynne needed her, Winona was more than happy to keep her company.

On Monday, after her morning meeting, Winona returned to her desk to find Karina excitedly winking at her.
"Winona, want some milk?"
