Winona asked Karina to pass out the printed documents, only to realize they were short two copies. She decided to go print them herself and grab another file while she was at it.

Just as she reached the door, an administrative assistant walked in carrying two piping hot cups of coffee.

Winona was a split second away from colliding with her. Wynne, who was sitting closest to the door, bolted up and yanked Winona out of the way.

The scalding coffee splashed directly onto Wynne's arm.

Wynne endured the searing pain without making a sound.

Forrest immediately stood up and helped Wynne to a chair.

The admin panicked, stammering apologies. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!"

Someone on the team had requested coffee, and she hadn't expected someone to be right at the door.

Once Winona steadied herself, she immediately checked on Wynne. Blisters were already forming on her arm.

Winona hurriedly rushed her to the restroom, grabbed her hand, and held her arm under the cold running water, gently taking off her bracelet.

Seeing Winona's panicked expression, Wynne managed a smile. "I'm fine. Don't worry so much."

She then glanced down at Winona's stomach. "What about you? Did you get hit anywhere?"

Seeing the nasty blisters on Wynne's arm while she was still entirely focused on Winona's safety made Winona's eyes sting with tears.

"No. I'm completely fine."

"That's good."

The thought of failing to protect Winona when she was a baby had always weighed heavily on Wynne's heart. Now that she finally had Winona in her life, she only wanted to protect and overcompensate for everything she had missed.

After flushing the burn with cold water for over twenty minutes, Winona said, "Let's pause the meeting. I'll take you to the hospital to get that looked at."

"It's not that serious. I'll just go home and put some burn ointment on it. You guys keep working. I'll have my driver take me back."
