Winona realized she was actually starving, so she followed him into the kitchen.
Stefan wasn't exactly a master chef—his culinary skills began and ended with boiling noodles and frying eggs—but right now, that was more than enough.
She sat at the kitchen island, resting her chin in her hands as she watched him move around the stove.
It wasn't until Stefan set two steaming bowls of noodles down in front of her that she snapped out of her daze.
Winona picked up her fork and started eating.
"I have to fly out to Yelden Country the day after tomorrow," Stefan said casually. "It'll be a week-long business trip. Make sure you take care of yourself, and always have Ezra and the guys with you when you go out."
Winona felt a sudden pang of reluctance. "A whole week? That's so long."
Stefan offered a soft smile. "I'm planning to permanently delegate some of the overseas management while I'm there. Once this is done, I won't have to travel internationally as much. I'll get to spend more time with you."
Hearing his reasoning, her heart warmed. "Okay."

After work the following evening, Winona headed straight to the Locke Group.
Since she was officially an R&D consultant for them now, the receptionist barely blinked when she walked in.
Winona deliberately stopped by Conrad Vance's office to chat about some project details before making her way up to Mr. Falconer's office.
Quincy Falconer didn't waste time. "I've granted you the clearance. You can use my computer. I'm going out for dinner."
With that, he walked out and shut the door.
Winona sat at his desk and dove into the accounts. Thanks to Stefan's crash course, it didn't take long for her to spot the glaring discrepancies.
She immediately pulled out her phone and started taking photos.
Over an hour passed in deep concentration when a sudden knock at the door made her jump.
Winona swiftly logged out of the system, stood up, and opened the door.
Yulen Locke was standing in the hallway.
Winona kept her face perfectly composed, refusing to show a trace of panic.
