"I never mess around with men who expect me to commit," Giselle taunted. "Because I know I can't give them that. When it comes to cutting loose, you could learn a thing or two from me!"
Yulen walked away, deciding she was utterly irredeemable.
How could she even compare men and women like that?
He returned to the Locke Villa, completely drained. Tallulah Shipley rushed to greet him at the door, her expression incredibly soft and welcoming.
Yulen reached out and pulled her into a tight hug.
"In the end, you're the only one who's truly good to me."
Tallulah froze in surprise, a sudden rush of sweetness blooming in her chest.
He was finally seeing her worth again. All her recent efforts to be the perfect, dutiful wife were paying off.
She had wanted to ask him about the ten percent of the shares Winona had taken, but she swallowed the words down.
The company needed Winona right now. They could use her expertise to stabilize the project, and later, they could slowly scheme to get those shares back.

Marriage required careful strategy. She had to play the long game.

When Winona got home, she sat down with Stefan and broke down the financial disaster she had uncovered.
"The Locke Group has several massive projects bleeding money, but they've cooked the books to hide the deficits. Stefan, what's my next move?"
Stefan leaned back, his mind instantly shifting into corporate warfare. "First, slowly cash out your shares to clear your position. Then, right before the Locke Group launches their next funding round, we coordinate with a short-selling firm and anonymously submit the proof of their fraudulent accounts to the financial regulators. They'll be slapped with staggering fines and face immediate delisting."
Winona thought for a moment. "Yulen has three powerful brothers-in-law from elite Riverton families. If they inject capital to bail him out, the Locke Group might survive the hit."
