Yulen spotted Winona. She rarely attended high-society galas, so seeing her looking so utterly radiant made his heart skip a beat. He had always known she was gorgeous, and a dark part of him wanted to lock her away to keep that beauty entirely for himself. Other men were completely vile; if she fell into the wrong hands, she'd only get hurt.
Seeing Yulen staring at her, Willow scowled. She had always felt Winona was a little too pretty—almost dangerously intoxicating. She had practically bewitched Yulen back in the day, and Willow was thrilled when they broke up, especially since Winona supposedly couldn't get pregnant.
"She's nothing but a pretty face," Willow whispered sharply. "You dodged a bullet. If you have a shred of sense left, you'll realize Giselle is the one you need."
Yulen didn't even bother faking a response, his jaw tight.
The MC's voice echoed through the speakers, cutting through the chatter. All eyes turned to the stage where Wynne stood, with Winona right beside her, thrust into the spotlight.
Though annoyed by Winona's presence, Giselle practically vibrated with excitement for the impending announcement.
Taking the microphone, Wynne looked out over the sea of elites, her expression deadly serious. "Tonight, I want to officially introduce my daughter and share some very important news."
Wearing her most photogenic smile, Giselle took a step toward the stairs.
Suddenly, Wynne reached out and took Winona's hand.
"My daughter, who I have finally found after all these years—Winona."
Giselle froze, her foot hovering over the first step.
