Listening to his speech, a deep sense of revulsion twisted in Winona's stomach.
She hadn't even accepted him as her father, yet he was already trying to dictate her entire existence.
It turned out his extreme need for control had arrived long before any actual fatherly love.
Winona looked at him coldly. "I don't need you to manage my life, Mr. Scully. Nor do I want your cars. Please, leave me alone."
Sylvan looked wounded. "Winona, why are you being so hostile? I'm only looking out for you. The family that raised you held you back. I just want to correct your trajectory so you can live a better, happier life."
Winona didn't think her life needed "correcting."
She had been through hell, sure, but she had fought her way out and was building her own success.
She finalized the paperwork, paid for the car, and had Waldo Vane drive it back.
Seeing she absolutely refused to listen, Sylvan sighed heavily. "One day, you'll understand my intentions. Your current lifestyle doesn't belong in elite circles, and it definitely won't work with the Goddard family. Change is difficult, but it's the only way to secure your future."
Winona walked away without looking back.
That night, she told Wynne about Sylvan's little ambush.
Wynne was livid. "That arrogant bastard! Who does he think he is to say you need correcting? My daughter is perfect. You don't need to change a single thing. And what the hell is this 'elite society rules' garbage? I've lived a long time and I've never cared about these imaginary rules. Did he invent them just to stroke his own ego?
"You do whatever makes you happy, sweetheart. I will always support you. Do not listen to a word that man says. He doesn't know the first thing about loving a child."
Winona knew Wynne would back her up unconditionally. She smiled. "I know. He's completely delusional. I barely even acknowledged him."
Wynne was still fuming. "I'm calling him right now to give him a piece of my mind! How dare he speak to you like that!"
Right before Sylvan went to bed, his phone rang. Seeing it was Wynne, he picked up, pleasantly surprised.
