On Tuesday evening after work, Winona got word that Helena had taken a spill on her e-bike in the rain. Thankfully, she was fine—just a few scrapes and bruises.
More importantly, Greta hadn't been with her at the time.
Helena used to own a decent car, but she had sold it to scrape together enough capital to open her salon.
Since the shop was only a couple of miles from her apartment, she had been relying on her e-bike ever since.
Winona had plenty of money now, so she decided to buy her aunt a car.
She went to a dealership, picked out a few solid options, and texted photos to Helena.
Helena tried to decline at first, but thinking of Greta's safety, she finally agreed.
"I'll pay you back in installments," Helena insisted.
Winona had no intention of ever taking the money. She figured she'd just set it aside to start a college fund for Greta.
After talking it over, they settled on a solid SUV for around thirty grand.
Winona was just about to hand over her credit card when a voice interrupted.
"Winona? Are you buying a car?"
She turned around to see Sylvan Scully. Her annoyance flared instantly.
Sylvan looked at the car she had picked out and frowned.
He had noticed she drove a very standard vehicle before, but he hadn't expected her to pick something this cheap when buying a new one.
He assumed that because she grew up middle-class, she still had a poverty mindset and didn't know how to spend the fortune Wynne had given her.
It was a bad habit, and he was determined to fix it.
