Before Winona could say a word, Wynne grabbed her water glass and hurled the contents straight into Sylvan's face.

"You are completely out of line. Where we decide to eat is none of your damn business. Crawl back to whatever rock you came from!"

Sylvan stood there dripping, his hair and jacket ruined.

He didn't dare yell at Wynne, but his face turned purple with restrained rage.

"You keep spoiling her like this, and you're going to ruin her."

He reached for the napkins on the table to wipe his face, but his hand brushed against a folder sitting near the edge. It was Winona's medical report.

He flipped it open, and as his eyes scanned the text, the color completely drained from his face.

Wynne snatched it back, glaring at him. "Who gave you permission to touch our things?"

Sylvan took a deep, shaky breath, looking at Wynne with agonized disbelief. "You constantly accuse me of not loving her, but look at you! What kind of mother encourages this? This is absolute madness. I'm going straight to Stefan. She is terminating this pregnancy immediately."

He turned on his heel and stormed out of the diner.

Thanks to the scene he caused, neither Wynne nor Winona had any appetite left.

Wynne paid the bill and gently guided her daughter out. "Let's just go home. I'll have the private chef make you something wonderful."

Winona nodded, her good mood entirely ruined by Sylvan's outburst.

Sylvan knew Stefan was working at the Riverton branch today, so he marched directly into the executive office unannounced.

Stefan was in the middle of signing a stack of documents. He didn't even bother looking up.

"What is it now?"

Sylvan slammed his hand on the desk. "You know damn well she has autoimmune hemolytic anemia, and you're still letting her carry this child! You heartless bastard!"

Stefan finished his signature, capped his pen, and finally met Sylvan's eyes. "I begged her not to. She refused. Don't stand there and act like you care more about her life than I do."

"Bullshit! If you actually loved her, you would never let her take this risk!"

Sylvan paced frantically around the expansive office, practically vibrating with rage.
