Yulen had always been her golden child. From the day he was born, she had moved mountains to give him whatever he desired.
Whenever he faced an obstacle, she bent over backward to solve it for him. If she couldn't, his three older sisters would step in to pave the way. They had propped him up his entire life, praying for the day he would inherit the company and all the family's assets, ensuring that his father's mistress and love child wouldn't get a dime.
Yulen was her ultimate hope. He was the pillar of her existence, and she couldn't stand watching him waste away like this.
Seeing the desperate worry etched into his mother's face, Yulen finally pulled himself out of his stupor. "Mom, I just... remembered some things lately, and it's been getting me down. You don't need to worry, and you don't need to hire a shrink for me. I'll be fine in a couple of days."
Relieved that he was finally speaking, Willow nodded eagerly. "Just make sure you're eating properly. Don't let your health deteriorate."
"I know."
Later that evening, Tallulah brought a dinner tray into his room. Seeing that he actually had an appetite, a flicker of joy warmed her chest.
When he finished, she reached out, intending to wipe his face and hands just like she had been doing while he was sick.
Yulen flinched away from her touch. "I'll do it myself."
Tallulah froze, masking her hurt with a forced smile. "Yulen, do you want to move back into the master bedroom from the study? It would be so much easier for me to take care of you."
Yulen's expression cooled. "We'll see. I'm staying in the study for now."
Tallulah clenched her hands into tight fists, a deep sense of dread gnawing at her gut. But she didn't dare show it, maintaining her soft, gentle facade. "Okay."
The next evening after work, Tallulah decided to go to the mall to buy Yulen a new coat, hoping a gesture of goodwill might soften him.
As she walked past a luxury boutique, she spotted Winona.
Her eyes locked onto Winona's pregnant belly, and a flash of pure disbelief crossed her face.
Impossible. There was absolutely no way Winona could be pregnant.
She marched right up to her, her eyes practically burning holes into Winona's stomach. "How... how on earth are you pregnant?"
