Margaret still refused to admit she was wrong. "You're the head of a major corporation! You should be focused on your work, not worrying about these domestic trivialities. I just wanted you to have a better standard of living. Watching you tolerate using that cheap trash just because of her... it's depressing!"
Stefan pinched the bridge of his nose, exhausted to his very bones.
Why couldn't she just stay in the Capital and enjoy her wealthy lifestyle? Why did she have to fly all the way to Riverton just to create chaos over throw pillows and bath towels?
She had far too much time on her hands.
He looked at the officer. "My mother trespassed into my home and disposed of my personal property without my consent. I agree with my partner. I want to press charges."
"Stefan Goddard!" Margaret shrieked, her eyes wide with fury. "I did this for you! You ungrateful wretch!"
Stefan met her furious gaze with absolute ice. "Tonight, Winona and I were supposed to be at home, spending a quiet evening with Audrey so she could be with her parents. Instead, you threw a tantrum and completely ruined our family night. You keep saying you're doing this for me, but do you even know what I want? Because all I want is to be with Winona and my daughter. That is my happiness."
Eventually, they left Margaret at the station to be formally lectured by the police.
Winona, Stefan, and Wynne drove back to the house.
The nanny had already tidied up the mess. The items Margaret's bodyguards had dumped outside had been brought back in, wiped down, and sanitized.
However, the towels and toothbrushes had hit the dirt and had to be thrown away.
The nanny tentatively asked if she should go buy replacements.
"Please do," Stefan said tiredly.
The nanny nodded and hurried out to catch the supermarket before it closed.
Wynne looked at Stefan. "Earlier, your mother justified everything by saying the house is in your name, which gave her the right to do whatever she wanted. Winona is a reasonable girl, so she just stepped out and let her throw her fit. But you need to find a permanent solution to this."
"The solution is simple," Stefan replied without hesitation. "I'm transferring the title of this house, and all my other properties, into Winona's name. That way, my mother won't have a leg to stand on."
He had actually tried to transfer his assets to Winona in the past, but she had refused, so they had quietly dropped the subject.
