The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 822

"I've got everything handled here," Stefan assured her. "I'll make sure to get off work early these next few days, and Wynne is at home too. Don't worry about Audrey."

Still, Winona felt a deep ache at the thought of leaving her daughter.

Ever since Audrey was born, Winona practically rushed home every day just to see her. She couldn't sleep peacefully until she had spent time playing with her little girl.

Noticing her reluctance, Stefan smiled warmly. "Once you're done with work for the day, I'll FaceTime you so you can see her."

Winona nodded, though she couldn't help but add, "If she even gets a slight fever or seems off, you have to tell me immediately, okay?"

"I promise," he said softly.

After packing her bags, Winona couldn't resist sneaking Audrey into the master bedroom for the night. Usually, Wynne slept in the nursery with the baby.

When Wynne heard about the sudden trip, she was entirely supportive. "Go do what you need to do. I'll take good care of her."

Wynne was adamant that marriage and motherhood shouldn't derail Winona's career. She was more than happy to hold down the fort at home so her daughter could live life on her own terms.

"Knowing you're here gives me so much peace of mind," Winona smiled, kissing Audrey's little cheek as the baby happily gnawed on a teething toy. Audrey giggled, loving her mother's affection. "I'm just going to miss her so much. She's sleeping with me tonight."

Audrey mimicked her mother, wrapping her tiny arms tightly around Winona's neck.

"You have to leave early tomorrow," Wynne pointed out gently. "Audrey can be fussy at night. Are you sure you won't be too tired?"

"It's fine. I won't see her for three days, so I want to soak up every second I can."
