The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 83

Leaving the hospital, Winona called Rhea and asked her to recommend a criminal defense attorney.

"But didn't Yulen say he hired Mr. Stockton for you?" Rhea asked. "He's one of the best in Riverton for this type of case."

Winona sighed and recounted Mr. Stockton's evasiveness and her own growing suspicions.

Rhea scoffed in disbelief. "He's got some nerve. If he wasn't going to help, he should have just said so. What's the point of stringing you along? Don't worry, I'll ask around for you right now."

Ten minutes later, Rhea called back. "I spoke with a colleague. We should try to get Mr. Yarwood. You probably haven't heard of him, but he's just as famous as Mr. Stockton and also specializes in criminal defense."

"Okay," Winona agreed. "Which law firm do I go to to hire him?"

"He's very difficult to book," Rhea explained. "But he's attending an event tonight. We can go together and try to catch him there."

That evening, Winona and Rhea arrived at a private club.

The gala was already in full swing. Rhea scanned the room and pointed to a man in the distance. He wore a tailored suit and gold-rimmed glasses, giving him a polished, intellectual look. "That's Hayes Yarwood. He's talking with some investment banking bigwigs right now. As soon as they're done, we'll go over."

Winona nodded.

The two of them got glasses of juice and stood to the side, ready to make their move.

Seeing that Hayes had finished his conversation, Winona and Rhea quickly made their way toward him.

Across the room, Tallulah had also spotted Winona. She tugged on Yulen's sleeve and gestured in Winona's direction. "Isn't that Winona? What's she doing here? Is she talking to Hayes Yarwood? He's a notorious playboy. Isn't she afraid of getting into trouble?"

Yulen followed her gaze and saw Winona standing with Hayes. A wave of irritation washed over him.

Was she trying to hire Hayes for Helena's case? But he had already retained Mr. Stockton. Did she not trust him at all?

At that thought, his expression darkened, and he started walking toward them.
