The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 82

"However, there is some room for negotiation," the lawyer continued. "If we can prove that Faye was having an affair with Helena's husband, Matteo Slater, and was illegally trespassing, we can get Helena acquitted. We've already obtained security footage from the building management showing Matteo and Faye embracing and kissing, but it's not enough. We need to find their chat logs and hotel records."

"I see," Yulen said. "Keep moving forward. If the other party is willing to settle out of court, I'll cover all compensation costs."

"Understood."

Meanwhile, Tallulah was furious. Yulen hadn’t contacted her in days and had been spending all his time with Winona. She was carrying his child, and he was acting like she didn’t exist.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, so she drove to meet with Helena's defense attorney, Mr. Stockton.

The lawyer repeated the same update he had given Yulen.

Tallulah’s expression shifted as an idea occurred to her. She smiled sweetly and said, “Mr. Stockton, I need a favor. I want you to slow this case down a little.”

Mr. Stockton was confused. "Why? Mr. Locke wants this resolved as quickly as possible."

"It's not about abandoning Helena, just delaying things for a few days," Tallulah explained. "If you help me, I can introduce you to some major clients. And don't worry, if anything goes wrong, I'll speak up for you. Mr. Locke won't cause you any trouble."

The lawyer hesitated for a moment before finally agreeing.

Winona wanted to visit Nikita at the hospital, but Yulen had gone out, seemingly having forgotten his promise to accompany her. She didn't dwell on it and went to the hospital by herself.

When Nikita saw her, she asked anxiously, "How are things with Helena?"

Rhea was baffled. "That doesn't make sense. Mr. Stockton is one of the most famous lawyers in Riverton. He's known for his efficiency. Why would it take a month? Unless… he's deliberately dragging his feet. Winona, are you sure Yulen really wants to help? You said he won't let you leave. He's probably using Helena's situation to control you."

Thinking back to their fight the other night, Winona felt a sinking suspicion that Yulen might be using her aunt's plight to manipulate her. As much as it sickened her, she had no choice but to call Yulen again and beg him to move things along.

But once again, her calls went unanswered.

She opened Twitter and saw a new post from Tallulah.

Tallulah was in a haute couture gown, arm-in-arm with Yulen at a gala. The caption read: "He always gives me whatever I want. So whenever he needs me, I show up. We make the perfect team."

A horrible realization hit Winona. If Tallulah wanted it, would he really let Helena sit in jail just to make her happy?
