Winona had absolutely zero interest in catching up. Just as she was about to turn and walk away, Yulen finally found his voice.
"Are you only with him because he can fund your career? If you had just sat down and talked to me back then, we wouldn't have ended up like this."
Winona found it utterly laughable.
Even now, Yulen was still trying to find excuses for why they fell apart.
Deep down, his ego simply couldn't accept that she just didn't love him or care about him anymore.
Yulen pressed on. "We got together when we were so young. I wasn't mature enough back then. But I'm different now. I could treat you better than he ever could."
Yulen had replayed the memories of their past a million times in his head.
He admitted he used to be self-centered.
But who wasn't arrogant when they were young?
His only crime was maturing too late.
Winona hadn't even given him a chance to prove he had changed before she walked out. It wasn't fair.
Winona stared at his pathetic, desperate expression and sneered. "I have zero interest in your 'growth'. If I could, I'd erase the day we met from my memory. You are, without a doubt, the biggest stumbling block I ever had in my life."
With that, she turned on her heel and walked away.
Yulen stood frozen in place, his eyes rimmed with red.
She had just looked him in the face and completely invalidated their entire history together.
Why?
They had good times, didn't they?
Mamie rolled back from the restroom just in time to catch Winona's parting words. A smug smile spread across her face. "Yulen, she's backed by Stefan Goddard now. She's never coming back to you. I'm the only one who will never leave you."
She reached out and grabbed his hand. "I can give you so much more than she ever could."
Yulen felt physically nauseous at her touch, fighting the urge to violently shove her away.
But then his mind calculated the angles. Before he finally dumped her, he might as well drain every last cent and resource out of her. At least then, this waking nightmare would have been worth it.
