The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 850

Noticing the venomous glare, Winona had zero desire to engage.

She adjusted her hold on Audrey and turned to leave.

But Mrs. Mallory hissed, "Winona Jowett. You ruined my daughter, you destroyed my family. Doesn't the guilt keep you awake at night?"

Winona couldn't believe the audacity.

Maeve had literally tried to have her murdered.

Now, Maeve was simply living on an allowance in a foreign country, and somehow that was 'ruining' her?

Winona looked back, her eyes arctic. "The only reason your daughter is still breathing is because I have a conscience. After everything she pulled, whatever happened to her was getting off easy."

She was no longer the powerless girl she used to be.

Time and experience had forged her into steel. She wasn't intimidated by these entitled socialites anymore.

Mrs. Mallory ground her teeth, glaring with pure vitriol.

If Stefan and Wynne weren't protecting this bitch, she would have torn her apart long ago.

Winona ignored her and carried Audrey back to the room.

When Wynne heard about the run-in, she scoffed. "She spoiled her daughter into a psychopath, and now she's playing the victim? If Mr. Mallory hadn't saved Stefan's life back in the day, Stefan would have made sure Maeve suffered a lot worse."

Winona didn't want to waste energy rehashing the past.

Once Ryder was done with his tests, she took a very sleepy Audrey back home.

Stefan went back to the office.

Winona laid down with Audrey for a nap.

When she woke up, Audrey was already sitting up, quietly playing with her stuffed animals.

Seeing Winona open her eyes, Audrey leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Morning, Mommy."

Winona chuckled softly. "It's the afternoon, sweetie."

She pulled her in and covered her chubby cheeks with kisses.
