The Wife He Forgot to Marry (Winona and Yule) novel Chapter 852

Ever since she became Sylvan Scully's mistress, her family had gone from holding high expectations for her to feeling deeply disappointed. Some even considered her an embarrassment and slowly cut ties entirely.

Because Candida had bankrolled Shiloh's college and study-abroad expenses, he was one of the few relatives who still treated her well. Almost everyone else ignored her.

Yet, Candida never regretted her arrangement with Sylvan. If she had married an ordinary man, she would never be living in a luxurious mansion with a full-time staff. More importantly, her son was slated to be the heir to the Scully Group—that alone had rewritten her destiny. So what if Sylvan wouldn't give her a title? He had sworn off marriage for Wynne Walden's sake, which meant Candida remained the only woman by his side. No one could replace her.

But a massive wrench had been thrown into her plans when Sylvan and Wynne actually found their long-lost twins.

Forrest Kane was now making moves at the Powell Group, clearly poised to take over. Sylvan had completely given up on Forrest, shifting all his obsessive attention to his daughter, Winona. He was even entertaining the absurd idea of bringing Winona's child into the Scully family to raise.

Candida absolutely refused to let that happen. That was exactly why she had tasked her cousin with keeping a close eye on Winona.

Thinking of her son's recent complaints—that Sylvan was refusing to fund Zachariah's new business ventures—made her temples throb. Zachariah was Sylvan's own flesh and blood. Why did he constantly shoot the boy down?

Deep down, she knew it was because Sylvan looked down on her origins.

Candida couldn't help but spiral into self-pity. If she had been born into old money like Wynne, her life would have eclipsed Wynne's entirely.

After thoroughly evaluating Shiloh's capabilities, Winona decided to bring him on board.

On his very first day, Shiloh presented her with a vibrant bouquet of roses. His intentions were purely rooted in professional admiration, nothing more.
