Initially, Shiloh had thought Jared and the others were being dramatic with their frantic note-taking. But as Winona seamlessly wove in highly advanced, unfamiliar terminology, he quickly grabbed his pen, his expression tightening into intense focus. It felt exactly like being a freshman again, overwhelmed by a masterclass that went entirely over his head.
Winona was relentlessly efficient. Once she laid out the framework, she shifted straight to a rapid-fire Q&A, answering their complex questions with effortless precision.
By the end of the hour, Shiloh had absorbed a staggering amount of information. He looked thoroughly humbled.
Winona stood up, her tone brisk. "Meeting adjourned."
She walked out without a single wasted syllable.
Shiloh rubbed his temples; his brain felt like it was vibrating. The intensity of that sixty-minute session had practically fried his neurons.
Jared laughed, clapping him on the shoulder. "How was it? Told you she was a mastermind."
Shiloh nodded solemnly. "She's incredible. I'm completely outclassed."
"Right?" Jared grinned. "Nobody regrets joining this team. We're all just strapping in for the ride. I bet we crush our first project way ahead of schedule."
After work, Winona headed to the hospital to visit Ryder Powell, bringing along a selection of their favorite fruits.
Ryder and Wynne were deeply touched by the thoughtful gesture.
"Dad gets discharged the day after tomorrow, right?" Winona asked. "I'll come help pack everything up."
Wynne immediately fussed over her. "There's hardly anything to pack. Just focus on your job, honey. Running back and forth will wear you out."
