Winona still had work to finish, so she played with them for a bit before retreating to her study.

By the time Stefan Goddard came home, Audrey had completely drained her battery playing with Biscuit and Blossom and was yawning on the sofa.

He carried his daughter to her room, tucked her in, and then took a quick shower.

After reviewing some documents, he noticed it was already eleven o'clock and Winona still wasn't in their bedroom. He headed down the hall to find her.

Winona was deeply engrossed in her screen. Seeing Stefan walk in, she rubbed her tired eyes. "You go ahead and sleep. I still have things to wrap up."

Seeing the red rims around her eyes, Stefan sighed. "Rest first. Your lab just launched; there's an endless amount of work. You can't finish it all by working overtime every single night."

Winona let out a frustrated sigh. "Now that I'm running the show, I realize how heavy the responsibility is. If I don't clear these approvals, the entire pipeline stalls."

With that, she buried her head back into her work.

Stefan left the room, returning moments later with a glass of warm milk. He stood there until she drank the entire thing, then walked out.

By twelve-thirty, he was back, urging her to call it a night.

When she stubbornly refused, Stefan simply scooped her out of her chair, cradling her against his chest, and carried her straight to their bedroom.

"Stefan, just let me finish that one document..." Winona pleaded softly, trying to negotiate.

He pressed a kiss to her lips, his tone leaving no room for argument. "My beautiful wife, if you keep pushing yourself like this, your body is going to give out. You're barely sleeping a few hours a night. Haven't you noticed you're getting dizzy from low blood sugar way more often?"

Just days ago, she had nearly fainted in the bathroom while brushing her teeth. The memory still sent a spike of panic through him.

Pinned against the mattress, Winona finally surrendered.
