The Wife He Forgot to Marry novel Chapter 95

Over the weekend, Winona went to visit Helena but didn't see Nikita. "Where's Grandma?" she asked.

Helena sighed and pointed toward the bedroom. "She's been moping for days, ever since she found out I got divorced."

With Hayes's help, Helena had successfully sued for divorce, winning both the house and custody of their child. Helena was overjoyed, but Nikita was not.

Winona pushed the door open and found Nikita sitting on the bed, staring out the window with a gloomy expression. She sat down beside her. "Who’s got my grandma this upset??" she asked gently.

Seeing her, Nikita started venting all her frustrations. "Helena was too impulsive! How could she just get a divorce like that? The other woman just wants money. Matteo doesn't earn that much; once he can't afford her expenses, they'll break up. Then he'll realize how good he had it at home. If she had just been patient, Matteo would have surely come back to his family."

Winona looked at her grandmother with a sense of helplessness. Women from Nikita’s generation often believed a cheating husband would eventually come back home, but times had changed. She knew there was no use arguing, as it was impossible to change an elderly person's mindset overnight.

"Grandma, don't dwell on it. Helena and Matteo are separated now, and that's a fact we can't change. I'm sure Helena will find someone much better in the future."

"It's not that easy! Didn't she think about Greta? What kind of stepfather will ever be good to her?"

Winona listened to her grandmother's complaints and offered a few more words of comfort before Nikita finally agreed to come out for dinner, though she still refused to speak to Helena. Helena didn’t know what else to do. The divorce was final, and she had no regrets. She would never forgive that cheating man.

Before Winona left, Nikita grasped her hand. "You can't follow Helena's path. You have to work hard on your marriage and never, ever get divorced. Otherwise, I just don't think I could bear it."

A lump formed in Winona's throat, and her eyes stung. Seeing Nikita so distraught, she couldn't bring herself to mention that she and Yulen had also separated.

"Maybe she's just a trial I'm fated to endure," Winona replied with a sigh.

"Let's go into that shoe store," Rhea said, pointing ahead. "I have an important court hearing in a couple of days and I'll be on my feet for hours. I need to buy some comfortable battle shoes."

As they entered the shoe store, they spotted Tallulah and Blythe. After helping Tallulah pick out a pair, Blythe knelt down to help her put them on, doting on her as if she were the most precious thing in the world.

Winona watched them silently, her expression completely placid. There had been a time when she still wanted even a little affection from Blythe, but now she felt nothing at all.

Blythe stood up and said to Tallulah, "These shoes are perfect for you. From now on, you can't wear shoes with heels anymore, you understand?"
