She subconsciously gripped the hospital sheets, her slender fingers curling so tightly her knuckles turned bone-white.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and offered a sympathetic look.-
"You need time to recover anyway. Use these next few weeks to really think this through. Decide if terminating the pregnancy is a consequence you're prepared to live with."
It took a long moment for the heavy news to sink in. She gave a numb nod, appreciating his candor. "I understand. Thank you, Doctor."
If she couldn't risk an abortion, what was she going to do?

After a few days of hospitalization,
Serena felt her energy slowly returning.
The dull ache in her stomach still lingered, but it was far less agonizing than before.
The post-accident bleeding had thankfully stopped.

"I heard about the accident. I happen to be in town, so I thought I'd stop by."
His dark, intense gaze drifted over her pale, exhausted face, a microscopic shift disrupting his stoic expression.
"How are you holding up?"
Suddenly self-conscious, Serena quickly pulled the thin hospital blanket up, trying to wrap herself securely.
Heat rushed to her cheeks.
"I'm... I'm doing much better. Thank you for coming, Jordan."
She hadn't expected any visitors, and because of her injured arm, she was only wearing a loose hospital gown.
She wasn't wearing a bra.
The collar of the gown hung open slightly, making it dangerously easy for someone to look down.
A single glance would reveal far too much.
At such close proximity, wearing absolutely nothing underneath...
