Natalie felt like her wrist was contaminated. She grabbed a tissue and scrubbed at it relentlessly.
A familiar voice suddenly sounded beside her. "Oh, it's you."
She looked up, her body freezing for a second. It was the Walsh heir, the guy from the other night.
Warren Walsh smiled warmly. "I was completely out of line the other day. I didn't realize your relationship with Mr. Sheridan. I am so sorry."
Seeing him acting so submissive and eager to please only struck Natalie as comical.
Warren maintained a humble and polite demeanor. "Are you here for the banquet? Let's go in together. I can apologize to Mr. Sheridan in person while I'm at it."
Natalie shook her head. "No, I'm heading home."
She had absolutely no desire to waste another word on him and simply walked away.
Warren stared at her elegant, curvy silhouette, his eyes lingering with obvious greed.
Honestly, it was a tragedy not to sleep with a woman of that caliber at least once in his life. What a shame. To think she had serious backing. Jude had personally given a warning, and since Warren was up for a promotion, he couldn't risk making a move. Offending Jude would mean serious trouble.
Warren walked back into the hall and immediately spotted Jude. He laughed jovially, "Mr. Sheridan, what a coincidence running into you here. I wanted to apologize again for what happened the other day. I actually just bumped into your girlfriend at the entrance and apologized to her too. Why did she leave so early?"
"Girlfriend?" Jude's eyes gleamed with twisted amusement.
Marvin went rigid. "She... she had an emergency and had to leave."
Jude looked at Marvin. "Since you brought her all this way, why didn't you let us meet her?"
Jacob leaned in closer to Marvin. "You brought a girlfriend to the party?! You're being way too stingy, man. What, did you find yourself a supermodel and you're too scared to let your brothers even get a look?"
Everyone just assumed Marvin was embarrassed.
Marvin was entirely devoted to his research. In this group of men, most had started messing around in middle or high school. He was the only one who had never dated, nor did he casually sleep around.
Gardenia's eyes darkened. No wonder Marvin had been acting so distant lately whenever they talked.
So he had a girlfriend. It was probably some jealous woman keeping him on a tight leash.
Gardenia couldn't help but feel annoyed. She and Marvin were just friends. She didn't understand why he had to distance himself from her just because he started dating.
It made her incredibly uncomfortable.
Marvin kept his eyes downcast. He desperately wanted to explain the joke about the colleague to Natalie and formally apologize to her. He stood up. "I've got something I need to take care of. I'm going to head out."
