Natalie nodded. "I ate it. Really, there's no need to have someone deliver food to me. It's too much of a hassle."
"I tell you to come home for your three meals, but you never do. Hassan was just being considerate and asked the housekeeper to take it to you," Cecily made sure to emphasize.
Natalie didn't buy it for a second. She figured Cecily had ordered the staff to bring it and was just pinning the credit on Hassan.
She nodded politely. "Alright, I understand. But please, don't bother sending me meals anymore. I make sure to eat well when I'm out."
"Food outside is never as healthy or fresh as what we make at home."
On that point, Cecily was entirely correct.
"Thank you. I'll make sure to eat at home when I have the time," she replied, having no other choice but to placate her.
Cecily finally dropped the subject and nodded. "Good."
With that, she headed back into her room.
Natalie tiptoed into Hassan's study. She carefully scanned the room; there were no security cameras.
She walked over to the desk and booted up the computer. The monitor hummed to life.
The files scattered across the desktop were mostly financial spreadsheets. Natalie didn't understand the complex numbers, and clicking through them revealed nothing of significance.
That was until she stumbled upon a highly encrypted private folder hidden deep within the directories.
Frowning, she typed in Adrian's birthdate.
A bright red exclamation mark popped up. She had two attempts left.
A cold sweat broke out across her back. Just as she was about to try Gardenia's birthday, the housekeeper's voice echoed from the hallway: "Sir, you're back!"
She immediately shut the computer down, slipped silently out of the study, and hurried back to the master bedroom with her heart in her throat. She ducked into the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face.
When she walked out, looking fresh from washing up, Hassan barely gave her a passing glance before looking away.
Her phone buzzed. It was a message from Marvin. Jude Sheridan and the others had somehow found out that his supposed "girlfriend" was Seven. She stepped out onto the balcony to reply.
It turned out that Warren Walsh had casually brought it up when he ran into Jude. Since Jude happened to be with Jacob at the time, the secret was out—Marvin's mysterious girlfriend was the genius behind the robotics showcase.
Natalie sent back a few reassuring texts. As long as the public didn't know Seven was actually Natalie Thornton, she couldn't care less.
After wrapping up the conversation, Natalie returned to the bedroom.
Hassan looked up at her and asked, "Did you eat the lunch I sent?"
