Jessica froze, stunned by the revelation. She knew rich men could be generous, but this was a level of wealth she hadn't fully grasped. She was well aware of how astronomical the property values in Sycamore Quays were.
A single house here started at eighty million, with most easily clearing the hundred-million mark. None of the rich kids she hung around with could afford that.
She was definitely envious, but she still clung to her pride. "Even so, I'm not going to throw myself at some creepy old guy."
She absolutely drew the line there.
"Who told you Mr. Carlson is an old man? He's incredibly handsome. You'll see for yourself when he gets back."
Jessica didn't buy it. In her mother's eyes, 'ugly' meant 'average,' and 'slightly less ugly' meant 'handsome.'
Around six o'clock that evening.
Hassan walked through the front door, phone in hand, typing out a message.
Gardenia Sutton had just sent him a photo of Adrian doing his homework. The boy looked remarkably focused.
He loosened his tie, fired off a quick reply, and slipped off his jacket. As he stepped further into the house, he paused, noticing the unfamiliar figure in the living room.
Jessica stared at him, completely captivated. She had never seen a man this gorgeous in real life. It wasn't just his striking face; every movement he made radiated wealth, power, and pure elegance.
Her heart was already racing.
Laura smiled, rushing over to take his coat, and immediately launched into the same birthday excuse she had given Natalie earlier.
Hassan's brows furrowed slightly, but when he spoke, he completely bypassed her explanation. "Is my wife home?"
"Yes, she is."
"Got it," he replied coolly.
He hadn't explicitly kicked Jessica out, which Laura took as a tacit approval.
She felt a surge of excitement. Her daughter really was something special! If he hadn't been interested at all, he would have had her thrown out on the spot.
Having worked for Hassan for a while, she knew his habits. He hated noise and demanded absolute peace in his home. Even Natalie wasn't allowed to cause a scene.
For him to let Jessica stay for the evening meant she had to have caught his eye.
