Jacob was livid. "No wonder! I knew he was acting sketchy about this whole relationship, keeping her away from us! He's a total traitor! I can't believe he's dating Natalie's best friend!"
When Natalie received a call from Nancy, she was in the middle of troubleshooting a minor research issue with Marvin.
Hearing that Jacob was harassing her friend, Natalie frowned, excused herself, and headed out.
The location was the Goldport Circuit.
Natalie had recently warned Nancy not to wander around, so Nancy had strictly been commuting between her apartment and the racetrack.
The crowd at the circuit was usually familiar and consistent, which gave Natalie peace of mind.
But today, Jacob had deliberately sought her out.
"Marvin is naive, and you played him," Jacob sneered. "But I'm making it clear today—while I'm around, you're not pulling the wool over his eyes. You've got a death wish if you think you can play games with one of my best friends."
Nancy had heard about Jacob's misconceptions from Natalie, so his hostility wasn't surprising. She kept her eyes averted, not even bothering to give him a proper response.
But Jacob relentlessly pushed her. "Call him right now and break it off. Otherwise, I'll make you regret it."
Nancy swatted his hand away. "Don't touch me. Who made you the relationship police? You stick your nose into everything, don't you? It's none of your damn business."
