Yet he acted as if nothing had happened.

Yvonne urged, "Natalie, you... hurry and take him to get that treated. I don't need you to do anything else here. A burn is no small matter. With blisters that big, it'll get infected if it's not handled."

Natalie handed Yvonne the medication she had just mixed.

She looked at Hassan. "Let's go."

Once outside the ward, she finally looked at him. "Didn't I tell you to go find a doctor?"

His footsteps, which had been perfectly in sync with hers, suddenly stopped. "It's nothing."

His tone was incredibly indifferent as he added, "I'm leaving."

Without pausing for another second, he pressed the elevator button and stepped inside.

As for what would happen if his severe burn went untreated, Natalie didn't dwell on it. There was no need to. After all, whether at home or at the Carlson Group, there would always be a private doctor waiting on him.

To avoid Yvonne's questioning, Natalie sat outside for ten minutes before heading back in.

"How is it?" Yvonne asked her.

Natalie nodded. "The doctor took care of it. It's fine. He had things to handle at the company, so he left first."

But Yvonne just looked at her. "Natalie, talk to me. What exactly is going on between you and Hassan? You've been completely out of sorts."

Natalie sat beside her, peeling an orange. "It's nothing. I told you, just some minor arguments. We haven't made up yet. Besides, me clinging to him before didn't do any good, so I might as well give him the cold shoulder."

"This isn't just about giving him the cold shoulder anymore." Yvonne's gaze swept over the box of pineapple pastries on the cabinet. "In the past, you would have eaten those by now. Today, you haven't touched a single one."

Natalie finished peeling the orange, handed half to Yvonne, and smiled playfully. "I just don't feel like eating pineapple lately. I wanted an orange."
