Cora hadn't finished her shift yet, so Natalie and Quinn headed to the restaurant first.
It was only then that she realized Hassan had been having her followed this entire time.
When she went to pre-pay the bill, her card was declined. It had been frozen.
The only person with the authority to do that was Hassan.
She called Zeke, who bluntly relayed the message: "Mr. Carlson doesn't want to see you dining alone with another man."
Natalie let out a dry, angry laugh and hung up the phone.
Male possessiveness truly was the most ridiculous thing on earth.
What she hadn't expected was for Hassan to be just as much of a cliché. Apparently, he was that exact kind of man too.
Quinn offered to cover the bill instead, but the waiter informed them that Mr. Carlson's team had already settled it, and any further expenses would be charged to his tab.
Quinn frowned at her. "Is he really going to agree to divorce you?"
"He's already signed the papers," she said, though a seed of doubt had taken root.
Hassan was a master of self-control. He loved Gardenia, yes, but he wasn't the type to let the Carlson family name suffer a scandal for her sake. His logic was always cold and terrifying.
The fact that he had gone to such irrational lengths for Gardenia was already a miracle.
A heavy silence settled over the private dining room.
When the waitress finally escorted Cora in, she was surprisingly followed by Jude Sheridan.
From the stiff, apologetic look on Cora's face, it was obvious Jude had forced his way in.
Natalie had absolutely zero desire to eat with Jude, but since he was Cora's husband, kicking him out outright would make things incredibly awkward.
With his wife sitting right there, Jude shamelessly flirted with the young, pretty waitress. Unable to handle the intense charm of a notorious playboy, the girl blushed furiously.
Natalie carefully watched Cora. If she didn't care, Natalie would pretend she hadn't seen a thing.
