When Natalie arrived back at Sycamore Quays, she was surprised to find Hassan had beaten her home.
He was sitting quietly on the couch, reading a book—something he rarely ever did in the living room.
As she stepped into the entryway to change her shoes, the man on the couch lowered his book and looked up at her.
Natalie didn't pause. She slipped her shoes off and walked straight toward the bedroom.
"Natalie," he called out.
Her footsteps hitched, and she looked back.
Tall and imposing, he walked over, his large shadow casting over her, dragging her mind straight back to what had happened in the movie theater.
Gritting her teeth, she pulled a tissue-wrapped object from her pocket and hurled it right at his face. It hit him and clattered sharply onto the floor.
The man's stoic gaze dropped down for a fraction of a second before snapping back up, his eyes now swirling with dark intensity.
His thin lips parted, his voice dangerously low. "How far have things gotten between you and Quinn?"
Natalie's eyelashes fluttered as he continued.
"I don't want to wake up one morning and see you on the front page of the tabloids with some other man."
She let out a bitter laugh. "I can't be seen with other men? What about you? Before you start making demands of me, maybe you should look in the mirror."
She took two steps toward him. "Right, I forgot. No one dares to photograph you and Gardenia. But you two went to the movies together today, didn't you? Demanding that I stay loyal—don't you think that's just a little bit hypocritical?"
She had stepped much closer, and her natural, delicate scent drifted into his airspace, now tainted by the faint trace of another man's cologne.
His brow furrowed imperceptibly. He absolutely despised the scent of any other man lingering on her.
It felt as though someone had tainted something that belonged solely to him.
"Natalie, you can go back to dancing at the Arts Center," he said evenly. "Gardenia only wants to fulfill her old dream. She has no intention of competing with you."
