Walking through the main entrance of the estate, she saw several servants carrying heaping fruit platters filled with honey pomelos, pomegranates, autumn pears, and grapes, moving with quiet, measured steps toward the main hall.
Natalie recognized them immediately as seasonal fruits freshly harvested from the Carlson Manor on the outskirts of the city.
It seemed Cecily was back and had likely already heard about the previous night's incident.
Entering the main hall, the tension was palpable; the servants barely dared to breathe too loudly.
With a faint smile on her lips, Natalie walked over and greeted everyone.
Cecily smiled. "These are fresh from the manor. Come have a taste."
Natalie took a seat next to Hassan.
The servants had already cut the fruit into perfectly bite-sized pieces. She picked up a silver fork and popped a piece of autumn pear into her mouth. The flesh was crisp and sweet, the juice bursting on her tongue. The fruits sold in stores couldn't compare to the organic harvest from the manor.
Cecily looked at her, her tone carrying a heavy implication:
"Delicious, isn't it? I told you and Hassan to come over and relax, but you refused. So, I brought some back for you to try. Who would have thought that I'd come home in such high spirits, only to hear what happened last night. What a surprise."
Natalie chewed her food slowly, her expression completely unbothered.
She knew this confrontation was inevitable. A moment later, she lowered her eyes, offered a faint smile, and spoke calmly:
"Cecily, are you talking about what happened to Gardenia? They blindly accused me last night. Technically, I was the one who helped Gardenia. After all, I figured out where she was."
If she hadn't managed to guess the location in time, who knows how far a lunatic like Chloe Banks would have gone.
Chloe had secretly associated with some shady underground figures, ruthless people who stopped at nothing and left zero traces behind.
