When she woke up the next morning, she was still securely wrapped in his arms. His warm body was pressed against her back, his breath ghosting over the nape of her neck. The rhythmic puffs of hot air were so close she could feel the faint brush of his nose and lips against her skin.
His arm was draped heavily over her waist, completely encasing her in his embrace.
She had been entirely too exhausted last night to put up a fight, but now that she was fully awake, she shoved him away.
Hassan woke up almost instantly, his dark eyes landing on her before quickly darting away.
Natalie got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom to wash up. Her skin felt sticky, a sign she had likely spent the night sweating through a restless sleep.
She changed into a light blue, cloud-patterned maxi dress. The fabric was a buttery-soft silk chiffon that draped perfectly over her figure. A slender, silver diamond chain was cinched at her waist, highlighting her slender curves. The cuffs were embroidered with faint green orchids, and the hem cascaded gracefully to her ankles.
She tied her hair back with a matching ribbon, letting her wavy chestnut ponytail sway gently against her lower back as she moved.
Since she was already at the manor, she figured she might as well relax and enjoy it.
After doing a simple skincare routine, she skipped the makeup and went straight downstairs for breakfast.
She made a point of completely ignoring the man following close behind her.
In the dining room on the first floor, Cecily, Caspian, and Cyrus were already seated. However, no one was speaking, and Cecily's face was dark with anger.
Natalie walked over and took a seat, acting completely oblivious to the suffocating tension as she grabbed one of the breakfast wraps from the table and took a bite.
Hassan sat down right beside her and reached for the exact same kind of wrap.
The breakfast spread was lavish, made entirely from fresh ingredients sourced directly from the manor's own gardens.
She ate slowly. The wrap contained a vegetable she couldn't name that had a bitter aftertaste. Not a fan, she discreetly placed it on her side plate.
